The Sporting Life

There was a sports theme for the family this week. We pulled together Thursday night to support our home town (and world champion) Colts in the opening game of the NFL season. If you saw the game, you know that the Colts defense, which struggled last year, was outstanding. If you were wondering what has changed this year, here it is...

Lexi did her best to support the defense, including putting on her "game face" which is pretty intimidating right now due to her several sharp little chompers. She struck fear into the hearts of the Saints offense, and they never could recover.

Friday I took a half day off work and went golfing with some friends from work. This was notable because we played Brickyard Crossing GC which is the ritzy course which is located beside and partially inside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The course is normally much to expensive for someone of my income level, but I managed to finagle a great deal for the group, so we were able to play the course without having to sell any organs.

I played very well overall. The conditions were tough due to very strong winds throughout, and some heavy rain halfway through the round. My putting was actually good for once. It was my first try at using the new hand-me-down putter I got from my Dad, and I have to say I was pleased. Here is an action shot of me hitting a shot inside the race track.

I won't go into too much boring detail about the round, but I will mention a couple highlights for me. I managed 3 birdies including one on the most difficult hole on the course, and only missed two fairways during the entire round. Unfortunately I also had several truely horrific holes, but we don't need to go into that.

Here's another shot showing us playing a hole inside the track, with the famous speedway Pagoda in the background.
