More vacaction pics

Yesterday we had more rain in the morning. We slept in a while, then went to T-Rex cafe for lunch, then played mini golf at one of Disneys mini golf courses.

Today we drove to the Tampa/Clearwater area and went to a state park beach. We had a good time. Started off on a sand beach. Lexi and I made a sand castle, and Lexi and Monica looked around for shells.

Then we drove to a different part of the island where there was less sand and A LOT more shells. We did some serious shell collecting here. Lexi wanted to keep them all.

We found several conchs that still had critters living inside, so we threw those back.

We also found several sponges, a jellyfish, and a sea urchin.

Tomorrow is going to be warmer and we plan to spend the day at the two pools at the resort. They have an awesome kids water area that Lexi is excited to try out.

Day one

So for day one (I don't count the travel day) of vacation, we didn't have great weather (storms coming through mid-day) so after a morning snack on the balcony watching animals on the savannah, and then having a late breakfast and playing at the playground, we decided to spend the afternoon riding the monorail to some of the different fancy resorts to check them out, find a place to eat, do some shopping, and find pressed penny machines. We had a good time. Here are some shots.

Childrens Museum adventure

So Lexi had a class at the Children's Museum scheduled for today. There was a snow storm hitting while we were driving in, but she was excited about her class so we didn't want to miss it.

We left extra early, but not quite as extra early as we wanted. Roads weren't great. When we got to Indy, traffic on the interstate came to a halt. Didn't look like we'd make it in time. So we made our way accross a few lanes of stopped traffic and got off at an exit and started working our way on snow clogged city streets.

Got there just in time. Lexi had a great time at her class. Her first class where she got to go in all by herself without mom or dad. She did great!

Afterwords we did the usual museum stuff. It was very odd though, since the snow had kept everyone away so the normally very loud and busy museum was quiet, calm, and empty. It was like we'd broken in after hours and had the place to ourselves, except that all the employees were there.
